Our Mission

To increase knowledge and understanding of the endemic and critically endangered Trinidad Piping-guan while promoting the conservation of this bird and its habitat. Click here to view the PSG constitution.

A Brief History

The Pawi Study Group (PSG) was formed in 2004 under the original chairmanship of Professor John E. Cooper to bring together individuals and groups which were interested in learning about and actively promoting the conservation of the Trinidad Piping-guan (Pawi).

Since its formation the PSG has been involved in education and awareness projects, behavioural studies (of both captive and wild birds), ecological studies, health monitoring and sociological projects. We are currently registering the group as a formal NGO under the Companies Act of Trinidad and Tobago.

Our Membership

Over the years the PSG has developed a diverse membership including people from many disciplines, backgrounds, nationalities and organizations offering a wide array of skills, experiences and viewpoints to deal with the problems relating to the study and conservation of Pawi. The only pre-requisite to being a member is an interest in Pawi conservation.

Interested in joining? Fill out and email this membership form to us at pawistudygrouptt@yahoo.com with the subject title "Membership Registration Form", this allows us to keep an electronic copy of your information. You will then need to deliver a printed and signed copy of this form to a PSG executive member when you pay your fees. Remember to collect your receipt. Please note that membership fees have recently been established at TT$20 for all members.
